About Rachel

Rachel was born in Yorkshire, and studied Optometry and Vision Sciences at UMIST in Manchester, she completed her pre-registration year at Specsavers in Leeds and passed her Professional Qualifying Examinations in 1996.

After living and working in Yorkshire for a while, then in and around Manchester and the North West, she moved to Devon in 2006.

She has worked in all Optical environments both large multiples and small independent practices, finally settling in the Independent World, around twenty or so years ago.

Before setting up South Molton Eyecare in 2019 she previously worked for Paul Donner in South Molton, and worked for other Independent practices in Barnstaple, Tiverton, Crediton and Torrington.

She has lived with her partner Richard in Torrington since 2015.

In her spare time she enjoys being outside with the dog appreciating nature and cherishes time with family and friends.

About Lisa

Lisa was born in North Devon District Hospital, and went to Winkleigh primary school, then Chulmleigh Community College. On leaving school she gained an apprenticeship place with an Independent Opticians in Mid Devon. They supported her and through them she has gained not only level 2 in The Optical Receptionist and level 3 in Optical Practice support, but has also training in Risk Assessment, Customer Care, Dispensing, Glazing, Optical Technical Skills, Information Technology, and Administration.

She lives with her husband and two daughters in Winkleigh.

In her spare time she enjoys socialising with family and friends, going to the gym, watching rugby and is an avid supporter of Exeter Chiefs.

About Carolyn

Carolyn was born in Barnstaple to a local farming family and grew up just outside of Chulmleigh. She went to Chulmleigh Primary School and Chulmleigh High School. She has worked in many different businesses around South Molton over her working career, including hairdressing, the holiday industry and has done some reception work previously.

Carolyn has four years experience as an Optical Receptionist and is an excellent Spectacle frame fitter, she is also our creative director and is responsible for all our eye catching window displays.

She lives with her husband in Chulmleigh, and has frequent weekend visits from her adult children who serve with the Armed Forces.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time outside with her family and friends in the outdoors.

About Helen

Helen was born in Tiverton, attending school and college in Crediton. After completing her A levels in 2003 she went on to join a local Independent Practice as a receptionist. A year later she enrolled on the Dispensing Opticians course with the Association of British Dispensing Opticians. She qualified in 2007 as a Dispensing Optician and continued to work in the practice until 2020.

She has a particular passion for children’s Eyecare and prides herself on providing the best patient care and experience. Helen loves the bespoke, personal approach you experience in Independent Practice.

She lives in Tiverton with her husband, daughter and two cats Tilly and Cleo.

In her spare time she loves spending time with her family and friends anywhere in the great outdoors.
